Can I have a pro bono attorney take over my case if I started with a different lawyer?

BetterBetsy asked:

I am currently in a custody battle and I want a new attorney. I’ve been having issues with my current attorney, as he seems to be defending my ex and his rights, over me and my daughter.

My father hired my current attorney, and pays the fees, but it is getting ridiculous, and I need a new attorney.

My only income is SSI and child support (maybe), so I think I’d qualify for a pro bono attorney - but can I get one to take on my case if I didn’t start it with a pro bono attorney?
