My attorney overcharged me by taking action without consulting with me. How do I dispute these charges?

My attorney’s performance in court was ineffective. He takes actions without consulting with me or let me know that it was coming. He urged me to fight with my ex-wife instead of narrowing down things. He complicated my divorce rather than simplified my divorce. His stipulation in court the judge showed no interests to my side of story. Now my attorney sends me a huge invoice. What should I do? Can I dispute some of the charges? Please help!

      You can try to negotiate it with him and if not successful, talk to the local Bar Association. Problem is that you hired him to represent you and he probably will be able to say the actions were necessary for representation. Good luck. It sux!-Been there with the legal bills! Got charged every time the guy had to sneeze if my file was on his desk.

      You know the sayin’ “IF you see a lawyer in the mirror kill em’.” LOL, NO, seriously, try to cut a deal with the Lawyer. Especially if you believe he stepped over his boundaries, you won’t get all your money back, but some is better than none. You could always tell him that you believe he’s cheating you out of money and than tell him you’ll report him…I think it’s the better business bureau or bar association or something, I’ve never done so. But don’t make it sound like a threat or extortion, remember he’s an Attorney.
